CLEANING YOUR BASEBALL UNIFORM

EMPTY YOUR POCKETS ! ! !

BE CAREFUL of shirts that have plastic-type lettering on them ~ usually baseball shirts and sometimes T-shirts. Wash and dry them inside-out. Wash in warm and dry on warm.

WHEN YOU TAKE CLOTHES OUT OF WASHER, be sure to shake them before you put them in the dryer or the wrinkles will be 10 times worse.

DO NOT LET CLOTHES LAY IN THE DRYER ~ WRINKLES MAY NOT COME OUT WITHOUT IRONING, AND YOU DON’T WANT TO HAVE TO DO THAT!!!

DO NOT wash anything fuzzy (like towels, wash cloths, blankets, fuzzy jackets, sweaters, etc.) with anything that is dark.

BE CAREFUL of things made of cotton, nylon or polyester. These shrink and should only be washed in lukewarm water if they’re real dirty OR cold water, if they are not real dirty. It’s usually best to stick to cold water with these materials, if possible.

DO NOT put brand new dark clothes, especially navy, black, red or newly bought tans, in with light colored clothes. Wash these separate the first few times, and then if you put them in with the lighter colored clothes, use the Dye Magnet. When in doubt, use the Dye Magnet.

WHEN IN DOUBT, use COLD water ~ HOT shrinks!!!

WRINKLES: To help remove wrinkles from clothes, dampen another piece of laundry or a towel (and throw in another dryer sheet) and put in with the wrinkled clothes and dry on low heat for about 15 minutes. Sometimes this works; sometimes you end up ironing.

WHEN AT ALL POSSIBLE, HANG SWEATERS AND SWEATSHIRTS TO DRY. YOU MAY HAVE TO IRON OUT THE “HANGER HUMPS”, BUT AT LEAST THEY’LL STILL FIT YOU!! IF YOU HAVE A PLACE TO LAY THEM FLAT TO DRY, THAT WILL SOLVE THE “HANGER HUMPS” PROBLEM.

“WARM” Blankets ~ Wash in hot water ~ Dry on hot heat
“COLD” Blankets ~ Wash in warm water ~ Dry on hot heat unless they are the polyester ones: wash cold/dry warm

HOT WASH/HOT RINSE/HOT DRY:
towels
wash cloths
sheets
pillow cases
white socks (wash dark ones with dark jeans or shirts or by themselves)
white underwear
white under T-shirts

**********************************************

WARM WASH/COLD RINSE/WARM DRY:

Jeans:
DO NOT wash brand new dark jeans with light ones until the dark ones have been washed a few times and no more dye comes out of them. When you have done that a few times, you ccan put them in with the light colored ones, BUT to be safe, use the Dye Magnet rag.
ALWAYS use the Dye Magnet when you’re not sure if something is going to fade or not.

Shirts and T-Shirts:
DO NOT wash brand new dark ones with light ones or with light jeans.
Follow instructions same as Jeans.

It’s always best to wash all the white T-Shirts together, but when that’s not feasible, follow above instructions.

BE CAREFUL WITH THESE THE FIRST FEW TIMES!! Sometimes the 100% cotton ones haven’t been pre-shrunk when they were made and will shrink on you 100% :)
Dark colored underwear and socks: Can be washed with the dark jeans OR in hot water together.

ANY OF THE ABOVE MAY BE WASHED IN HOT WATER OR DRIED WITH HOT HEAT
IF IT DOESN’T MATTER WHETHER OR NOT THEY SHRINK.
